Week #23 Check-In

The end of Week 23 has arrived!

How's it been for you? Have your words flowed like Dandelion Wine, or did Marionettes, Inc tie you up? Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or monthly (or anything in between) W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. Yahoo! If you've had something W1S1-related accepted, tell us so we can add you to the Write1Sub1 Hall of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

Please report ONLY accepted/published stories that you wrote as part of your participation in W1S1 (2011-2015).

(Please note that reports will not immediately appear, as they must be verified/processed by the moderator.)

While W1S1 continues to encourage all avenues for publication, we want to especially highlight those stories and markets that help put food in a hungry writer's pantry.

Even if you have no acceptance or publication news to report, please update us on your week's progress in the comments. Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them.

  1. Apologies for the slightly late post this week all! Normal service has now been resumed.

One acceptance and one paid publication to report for me: My story Her Long Hair Shining was reprinted in Tenebres (a French translation) and flash piece Welcome to Vega IV! was bought by Devilfish Review.

    Write on all!

  2. I managed to write one new (titled 'Chemical Balance' for now) and tweaked a few older ones. I submitted 3 so this month's Write1 Sub 1 challenge is completed already! I also had another (non paying) flash piece published Wrapped In Chains. No rejections but I'm waiting on so many I've sent out that the odds are rejections will start rolling in soon enough! (Feeling pessimistic as you can see!)

Hope the first week of summer has been good for you!

  4. Wrote, subbed...and was rejected all in the first week of June. Oh, well. Lots more days left in the month. Hopefully lots more ideas and stories, too. :)

  5. This past week has been about post-con recovery, book release prep, and catching up on lots of other stuff.

Written: No new fiction yet this month.

Submitted: Re-subbed a LOT of poems, sent out blog posts and interviews, and some reprint stories, too.

Published: My poem "What Happened Among the Stars" inspired the cover art for this month's Niteblade and the issue has almost had enough buyers to be available online for all to read. I also have a poem called "Leaf Dragon" in the latest New Myths.

Then the biggest thing: tomorrow my second book is released from Harper Voyager! Clockwork Crown is the sequel to The Clockwork Dagger. Both books will be available at any retailer.

  6. I finished the first draft of the OGN script (118 book pages, 200 script pages).

1 story subbed twice and rejected once (Clarkesworld, Lightspeed), plus a rejection from an anthology for a different story.

I can't figure out how it's already June, but I'm plugging away!
