Week #20 Check-In

The end of Week 20 is upon us!

How's it been for you? Has writing been The Love Affair or has Something Wicked This Way Comes Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or monthly (or anything in between) W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. Yahoo! If you've had something W1S1-related accepted, tell us so we can add you to the Write1Sub1 Hall of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

This year, we have cool forms for reporting our acceptances and paid publications. (Thanks to Jeff Chapman for keeping us organized.)

Please report ONLY accepted/published stories that you wrote as part of your participation in W1S1 (2011-2014).

(Please note that reports will not immediately appear, as they must be verified/processed by the weekly moderator)

While W1S1 continues to encourage all avenues for publication, we want to especially highlight those stories and markets that help to put new books on a writer's shelf.

Even if you have no acceptance or publication news to report, please update us on your week's progress in the comments. Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them.

  1. FINISHED revising my post-apocalyptic fantasy novel. One more round of edits, then it'll be ready to query.

Accepted: "One Way Ticket" to Perihelion Science Fiction; now I'm 45/52 with my 2011 W1S1 stories

"Thanks for the Memory" @ Nature

"Dahlia and the Ronin" @ Perihelion Science Fiction

    Write on, everybody.

    1. Awesome week! Keep it up!

    2. Just read your "Thanks for the Memory" - it's really great! Congrats on the publication :)

  2. Been busy with court and all the work that entails so no writing to note. I did have a publication this week: "The Spider Thief and the Sorcerer" is up at Crowded Magazine -
It's a fun little story with magic, spiders, and stubborn young woman trying to save her family's reputation.

    Rejections: 1 reprint (Fantasy Scroll)
    Submissions/Acceptances: None
Publications: The Spider Thief and The Sorcerer

  3. Awesome forms! Thank you Jeff for making them!

This week I killed a dry spell by finishing two short story drafts - finally! Going out to my usual suspects for workshopping now, and hopefully I'll submit end of the week.

  4. A few rough rejections this week. Started a new story, my second this month, hoping to finish it this week. A lot on my writing plate! Gotta revise some stories from w1s1 2013 and resub those rejections, all while not forgetting a novel and screenplay...gah!

  5. Wrote and subbed one, one acceptance and no rejections. Doing the 8 week OU (free) Course in Creative Writing which is more time consuming that I thought.

  6. I've resumed edits on the novel I wrote last year, so those are completely eating my brain. I think I missed posting on here last week? Whoops.

W: Finished first pass through novel. Added 6k.

    S: Nothing new.

  7. Hi all

I missed last week, but got something written and subbed tonight

Subbed and Written: A Box of Wood Matches, A Gallon of Gasoline and A Dirty Old Rag (Dead Gun Press)

  8. Hey gang. Hard to believe we're up to week 20 already. My week was:

W1: "The Price of Remission" (flash); "Mars Won" (flash)
S1: Flash to Digging Through the Fat

    Accept: None
Published: "Grace" in 2014: May from Pure Slush. Also, my story from last week is now available as a one-off "The Other Cummings" at The Strip.

  9. I got two acceptance and I also published my first short book!

    1. I will post more info on these achievements later... I have way to much going... I'm super busy... :)....

    2. Woot! Well done, Daniel.
