As you may have noticed, we have some "new" smiling faces here at Write1Sub1. Please join me in welcoming Siobhan Gallagher to the team as a fellow site administrator. Siobhan: Since August of 2011, I suppose. That's when I first started to submitting. I first saw the W1S1 thread over on AW, and stalked them for a bit before deciding I wanted to join in, as everyone seemed nice and were enjoying the challenge.
W1S1: What have you appreciated the most about this challenge?
Siobhan: Very strong community. If you sell a story, everyone pats you on the back. If you're rejected, there's consolation. If you're curious about a market or have questions, there's usually someone who can answer them for you.
W1S1: How has W1S1 affected your writing?
Siobhan: I don't know if there's an actual effect, other than a I write more. My good friend Rez has had the most affect on my writing, in terms of actually improving it. You can write a lot, but it might all be crap without someone knowledgeable to help guide you.
W1S1: What keeps you motivated to write?
Siobhan: The hope that I can make awesome sales one day, haha. And of course because I enjoy it.
W1S1: Inquiring minds want to know: What's been your best/worst rejection?
Siobhan: Most recent was where a slushie blatantly accused me of ripping off the "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Disney's Fantasia. And yeah, he actually said I 'ripped off', not realizing it was a homage -- the joke being wizards can't seem to enchant broomsticks without something going wrong.
W1S1: Glad to have you on board, Siobhan! W1S1 2014 is seriously going to rock.
