October Orchid Winner - Blogfest Award

Are YOU an October Orchid winner?

At the end of each month here at Write1Sub1, we publish a list of everyone who has managed to stick to the challenge: whether weekly, monthly or whatever variant is working for you.

This month, everyone who has done so receives the October Orchid Blogfest Award (in honor of Ray Bradbury's first collection of short stories).

So if you've met your W1S1 writing goals during the month of October, just add your name and blog URL to the linky widget below. And if you've had something W1S1-related published this month that you're particularly proud of, add its title and URL to the widget as well, and we'll be sure to check it out!

BLOGFEST RULES: Visit all of the participants above and give them each a virtual slap on the back for their success this month. Then visit their published works, and leave a comment if possible. Well done, everybody!

  2. While this month wasn't the greatest, I did get some good writing accomplished.

Wrote one 5K story and another 1K story, and polished almost 100 pages of my next novel.
    Subbed 6 stories.
    Received 5 rejections
    No acceptances, no publications.

    Happy Halloween.

    1. Keep those stories circulating. Some of mine have survived close to 20 rejections before finding a good place to call home.

    2. Wrote waaaay more than me this month, so that's something to be proud of. :)

  3. Managed to get my October W1S1 out in addition to some more novel revisions -- a third of the way through Madame Antic's Hotel Grotesque.

Had to query a few unresponsive editors and withdraw a couple subs, but I'm managing to keep 25 of my homeless tales out on submission. A couple others need some major overhauling, so I'll be giving them some quality time over the weekend.

    Write on, everybody!

    1. I too had to poke some editors this and last month. Starting to worry about Interstellar Fiction...

  4. Managed 15k on a novel draft, plus a SF flash and a horror short. 18 subs/resubs sent out for the month, with 9 rejections (including one of those lovely-but-heartbreaking 'we loved it but didn't have room for it' ones) and a rewrite request. My oldest outstanding sub also celebrated its first birthday this month :)

  5. Didn't do a whole lot of writing, aside from a vignette and a drabble (first time trying one!) But I enjoy my lull periods, gives me time to catch up on reading and revise previous written stories, and maybe ponder the mysteries of my closet.

    Subbed/resubbed: 25
Rejections: Probably 2 dozen, haven't counted them up
    Acceptances: 1 from Horror D'oeuvres
Published: "Peaches in the Spring" ($) (was published end of Sept. but didn't find out till Oct.)
    "Oh Deity, My Deity" ($)
    "Eye of the Beholder" ($)

  8. I made my goals in October, but not as I wished to do it. Didn't sub work one week and didn't write anything new one week, but overall managed my quota. This week:

Accept: "The Comedian" by Pure Slush
    Published: None this week.

  10. Sorry I'm late. Just to report that I wrote one, subbed one and had one acceptance from a re-edit, which I will give a link when it is on line.
Well done for all your writing and acceptances.
