Write1Sub1 Week #49 Weigh-in

The end of W1S1 2011 Week 49 is here!

How's it been for you? Have the words soared like The Flying Machine, or has The Dragon gotten in the way?

Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or monthly(or anything in between) W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. Yahoo! If you've had something accepted or published, tell us so we can add you and the market to the Write1Sub1 Halls of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them.

**And be sure to post the new W1S1 RELOADED graphic on your blog, Facebook, Google+, etc. to start spreading the word: We're going full-steam ahead into 2012!

  2. Pretty disastrous writing week here: Got about 2000 words into a new story; hated it, dumped it, started again. Got about 800 words into V2; hated it, dumped it, started again. I'm about twenty words into V3 :) --eh, early start on this week's story...

Accepted: "Authority" (week 29 W1) to Comets and Criminals (happy days!)

    Nout published.

  3. Simon: Nice work; Halls of Fame updated!

Shane: And thus the yin and yang of it all, right? Halls of Fame updated!

  4. As for me, this week's W1S1: "Immaterial Evidence" to Criminal Element -- hoping for lightning to strike twice.

Good news X2: Every Day Fiction has requested a rewrite of my Week#23 tale "Stones in the Sky and Bread Below" + I've surpassed my overall 150K W1S1 goal with 157,600 words written and submitted this year.

    Write on, everybody!

A story and a poem updated this week:

    Accepted: "Cheater" by 5x5 Fiction

    Submitted: "The Waning"

I'm 2 for 3 getting stories accepted/published so far (still waiting to hear about the third one). I hope my luck continues!

  7. AG: Keep it up with those resubs; I had quite a few of those this week.

Gary: Way to go; Halls of Fame updated!

  8. Back on track this week. I subbed a story that didn't get subbed earlier due to Nanowrimo interruptions. I finished a horror story yesterday and I'm editing it today. Nothing like writing about one's biggest fears to inspire one to write a story quickly, eh?

  9. Written: Nothing. I had outpatient surgery on Monday and have spent the week recovering.

Acceptances: I had a nice pro-rate reprint acceptance on a non-W1S1 story. Can't say more than that publicly yet.

I'm hoping to get my story for the month edited this week and to catch up on everything I've fallen behind on.

  13. Sparklecat: True that; nice work.

Beth: Hope you're back to 100% in no time, and congrats on the sale!

    Samuel: Well done.

Sandra: Editing demands so much of our time; good work.

Steve: For you, yes, 2 flash would be easy. =]

Does PoetryCircle count as a publisher (see Sandra's note)? If so, then add my poem, "The Waning," to my list of publications. I submitted it to PoetryCircle first and received some excellent critiquing. I submitted the revised version to Apollo's Lyre after editing (with previous publisher information, of course.)

  16. Francelia: Tin House? Nice!

Gary: Why not? Halls of Fame updated.

  17. Hi Milo:
Yes, I guess I'm aiming kind of high, but that's what all the pros say to do. And I've got nothing to lose. All they can say is no. LOL

Also, can I be added to the submissions successes roll call? I've got 2 so far.

    Thanks!

  18. Hi Milo!

I submitted one story to Noir Nation (12/02) and this past week to Tin House (12/09).

I'm wondering, have I misunderstood Submission Successes and Hall of Fame?

I thought Submission Successes was for actually submitting stories that week and Hall of Fame if you got an acceptance. If I got that wrong, please remove my name from the Submission Successes as I have not had anything accepted...yet! :)

    Thanks!

  19. Not a problem. I guess we could be clearer on that! The Halls of Fame are specifically for sales and acceptances. I'll remove those two for now, but fingers crossed that you'll be back up there in no time. Starting in January, all counts will start over, and we'll all need to re-earn our place on the sidebar!
