Write1Sub1 Week #48 Weigh-in

(Check it out: We now have our own official URL: www.write1sub1.com)

The end of W1S1 2011 Week 48 is already upon us!

How's it been for you? Have the words been hotter than Fahrenheit 451, or has The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms gotten in the way?

Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or monthly(or anything in between) W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. Yahoo! If you've had something accepted or published, tell us so we can add you and the market to the Write1Sub1 Halls of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them.

**And be sure to post the new W1S1 RELOADED graphic on your blog, Facebook, Google+, etc. to start spreading the word: We're going full-steam ahead into 2012!

As for me, this week's W1S1: "Imaginary Friends" to Trembles.

Pseudopod informed me yesterday that my Week#22 tale has passed the first round of readings; so hopefully I'll have some good news to share soon.

    Write on, everybody!

  8. Hi Milo,

I've decided to W1S1 for 2012! I'm going to try one a week, but a little nervous, as I still am novel writing, but I'm up for the challenge.

    Thanks for the nudge.

  9. Have only written this week - no subs - total of 11,000 words added to my NaNo novel, but it'll be much slower going from now on.

  11. Erin: Awesome! Great to have you on board. Remember, flash and microfiction always count -- and poetry, too.

  12. Let's see. This week I failed NaNo. But I got 16k written that wouldn't have happened otherwise, so that was still a plus.

Rejections: Transfiguration (Trapeze Magazine), Love Like Dysphoria (Shimmer)

  13. I sent in a short story to Analog magazine but haven't heard back from them. I love the Matrix background.

  14. I completed Nanowrimo, and my novel is almost done. I sent out one of my previous Write1sub1 stories that had not been submitted anywhere. Am now looking for my next story idea.

  15. AG: 16K that you wouldn't have had otherwise -- that's the spirit. AND Halls of Fame updated!

Michael: Analog? Brave soul. I sent them a resub this week; we'll see what happens. Glad you like the new look. WRITE1SUB1 RELOADED.

Sparklecat: Good luck on the hunt, and congratulations on "winning" NaNo this year!

  16. Also, I think that a few of the Twitter fic must have gotten counted twice (when I reported the acceptance and then again when I reported the publication) because Duotrope says I only have 13 W1S1 acceptances.

    ReplyDelete
  17. As much as it pains me to do so, I'll adjust your count accordingly. (My first response: Duotrope? Bah!)

  18. Wrote: Reworked "A Thousand Cuts" as per a rewrite request from One Buck Horror. Sent in the new version.

Sold: "The Getaway" (a W1S1 flash) to Earthbound Fiction

Published: Nothing this week, most of my recently sold stuff is forthcoming in Q1 2012.

Nice new site, theme. Also, Simon, could you link my W1S1 results to my site? (www.alexshvartsman.com)

  20. it;s been crazy but i'm still here. didn' make my Nov requirement, but at this point healing is more important. i'm working on the novel instead, since i can do that with pen and paper.

i am signing up for next year, hoping for more consistent succcess.

kudos to everyone on their accomplishments thgs week.

  21. Hope you're back to 100% asap, and it'll be great to have you along for the ride next year.

  22. Hi everyone!

Congratulations to all the writing and acceptances. And congrats on the updated website; nice!

    My week:

Write: “The Dance Class” (flash); “Breaking & Entering” (flash)

Sub: “Falling Star” (flash) to Noir Nation

    ReplyDelete
  23. You know, I was thinking about considering attempting a short story per week in 2012 and now that I've found your blog again, I'm actually considering it! :)

My NaNo goal was to write a short story and I just didn't get it done. The story's probably a third complete. I have a lot of stories that have stagnated at that point, lol. So 2012 could see a few months of completed works if I'd just...complete them.

Looks like you have a great community here. Thanks for letting me lurk a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Francelia: Good stuff indeed; Noir Nation looks very cool -- I might need to send them something.

Lyn: Climb aboard the Write1Sub1 train; we're going full-steam ahead into 2012!

  25. I wrote and submitted another 3 twitfics to trapeze. Hope to hear back on those soon.

I'm still working a couple shorts that I hope to have finished by the end of the month.

Congrats to everyone on their successes so far!
