Write1Sub1 Week #44 Check In

The end of Write1Sub1 2011 week #44 is upon us!

How's it been for you? Have the words flowed like wine or has it been a week from hell? Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or a monthly or a something-in-between W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. If you've had something accepted or published, tell us so we can add you and the market to the Halls of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them ...

  1. Double subs in last week, none this, but 18K words for NaNoWriMo.

  2. Written: a micro flash for Flash Fiction Chronicle's Daylight Savings contest

    Submitted: that micro flash

Acceptances: Yes! My August W1S1 story "A Good Eye" will be printed in the September 2012 issue of Big Pulp.

  3. Written/subbed : 1 fantasy short story, 2 flash stories, 5 Twitter stories and 3 haiku. You can probably tell I'm not doing NaNo ...

Accepted : Human Statue (Twitter) to be reprinted in the 140 and Counting anthology and The Second Apocalypse (Twitter) by Trapeze.

Published : The One Thousand, One Hundred and Eleven Gates to Faerie by Kaleidotrope.

  4. Sandra - there's only so many words in the keyboard, after all. Keep up the good nano work

Beth - Nice. I tried that one too. Nice accept at Big Pulp. Hall of Fames updated.

Simon - Very nice! 11 subs is impressive. Nice accepts and a pub as well. That's a strong week. HOF's updated (I posted the 140 and Counting to 7x20 for now as I didn't see a link for the antho)

  5. I had a great week.

Write 1: "Saint Peter's Penis" (flash)

Sub 1: Flash to Weirdyear; flash to Front Porch Review; flash to Apocrypha and Abstractions; short story to Weird Tales; flash to Electric Windmill Press; flash to Speech Bubble; short story to Untied Shoelaces of the Mind; Short story to New Myths; flash to the dream people.

Accept: "Infested" by Daily Science Fiction; "Commitment" by Pure Slush; "Blemished" by Apocrypha and Abstractions; "The Winding Maze" by Weird Tales.

Published: None, but I did learn that one of my stories has been nominated for Best of the Net ("Into the Woods" at Bartleby Snopes)

  6. Steve - Now that is what I call a great week. Fantastic stuff.

  7. That's an aweome week, Steve. Woweee.

  8. Been a little more productive this week, despite battling a nasty case of something like strep throat.

    Written: Meltdown

    Subbed: Meltdown to Nanoism

    Rejected: Pride (Leodegraunce)

    Accepted: None

    Published: /Survivor/ @ One Forty Fiction on November 2. /Summer Day/ @ Trapeze on November 5.

  9. I utterly flaked on W1S1 over the summer, and after it, too, it seems--I've just done the math and it has been three months since I finished my last W1S1 story =| Anyhow, hopefully back at it (hopefully!):

W1: "System, Corrupt Us" - 3,300 word sci fi.

S1: Nothing yet; above story tomorrow or the next day.

    No acceptances, no rejections.

Best of luck to anyone partaking in NaNo. Steve, that's one hell of an acceptance haul. Congrats!

  10. Thanks Simon & Deb!

A.G. - Hope you feel better soon. I enjoyed your tweet fictions.

Shane - Thanks, and I'm glad to see you getting back in the saddle. Keep it going.

  11. BIG congrats, one and all! Way to keep on keepin' on.

My W1S1 for this week: "Captain Quasar and the So-Called Emperor of the Universe" to Ray Gun Revival

Accepted: My Week#5 story "Abomination of Desolation" to The Red Penny Papers; my Week#38 tale "Harbinger of Arroyo Seco" to Big Pulp; 9 haiku to Digital Dragon; 3 haiku to Trapeze; 2 haiku to Scifaikuest

Published: My Week#21 story "Tomorrow's Dawn" @ Daily Science Fiction

    Rejected: PLENTY

    Write on, everybody!

  12. Congratulations Milo! You continue to inspire us. I hope everyone will read and rate Milo's Daily SF story. One of the ways we can support each other is by letting editors know that we read these stories, and appreciate their publishing them.

  13. Whoo hoo - go everyone! I am duly impressed. :)

I'm slogging through NaNo but keeping an eye on the month as it goes by - I WILL get my W1S1 in for the month, even with NaNo, even with the new Stephen King novel out this week....

Oh, and I should be up to 10 success in the Hall of Fame. :)

  14. Written/Submitted: The Midnight Cough.

    I've doing Nano too.

  15. Madeline - that's the spirit. Ten it is!

Ray - Excellent. It's tough to keep two pans in the fire. I envy you that.
