Write1Sub1 Week #39 Check In

The end of Write1Sub1 2011 week #39 is upon us!

How's it been for you? Have the words flowed like honeyed wine or has it been a week from hell? Here's your chance to tell everybody about it, whether you're a weekly or a monthly or a something in between W1S1 participant.

If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops. Yay! If you've had something accepted or published, tell us so we can add you and the market to the Halls of Fame. But if stuff has interfered with your writing and every reply has been a rejection, let us know that too so we can commiserate. We're all in this together.

Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams: we want to read all about them!

  2. Congrats, Simon! Nanoism is resisting me lately.

This week's W1S1: "Roadkill Joe" to Apex. My last Apex sub was held under review by one of the editors before being summarily rejected, so I'm hopeful.

Published: My Week#35 tale "A Creature Stirring" at 10Flash Quarterly.

    Write on, everybody!

  3. You guys have been busy!

I'm plotting/planning one bizarre story, and revising a SF story. Progress is good!

  5. My focus has been on the new novel but that's going well so far (40,000 words in a few weeks).

Written: experimental short story but I'm not sure if I'll submit it; may be too experimental for my tastes.

Submitted: a story I worked on in August and September was submitted to a contest. Publication won't result, but I'll get lots of feedback.

  6. Milo : Best of luck with Apex and, of course, many congrats on 10Flash. Great stuff.

dmbonanno : glad the progress is good! Best of luck with those.

Steven : Some week! Eleven submissions? Must be some kinda record. Congrats on the win and the pub; I'll HOFise.

Beth : Wow, sounds like your novel is flying. Experimental is good! There must be a good home for that short story I say ...

  7. Okay, just coming on board at Milo's suggestion. Couple of new flash pieces written in September. A prompt two weeks ago led to "Clenched Teeth" being sent to a 2nd editor. A piece was put up at "The Short Humour Site," and I paid my $15 to enter a StoryQuarterly contest. Four other shorts are out--one for the loooongest time.

"Queen at the End of the Bar" went online on "Gumshoe Review" and "Big Biz @ the Mall" is up at "The Corner Club Press." A satisfactory month, I think.

  8. Busy week for me, despite being on vacation. Sold a W1S1 story "Life at the Lake's Shore" to FISH anthology. Also sold a non-W1S1 flash "Time Away" to White Cat Magazine. It was posted today and can be read here:

Edited and submitted a flash story "The Take" and did a lot of revising on my older story "A Better Tomorrow" which I;m looking to submit next week. Already started working on a new story, "Dragon Ships of Tycho."
