August There Will Come Soft Rains Award

Are YOU an August Rains success story?

At the end of each month here at Write1Sub1, we publish a list of everyone who has managed to stick to the challenge -- either weekly, monthly or whatever variant is working for you.

This month, everyone who has done so receives the August There Will Come Soft Rains Award (in honor of Ray Bradbury's short story, of course).

So, let us know! If you've stuck it out, tell us in the comments below, and we'll add you to our end-of-the-month celebratory post. Include the URL to your blog or website, and we'll make your entry a link for others to explore.

BLOGFEST RULES: Just visit the participant above you and below you on the winners list (posted tomorrow night), or visit them all, and give them each a virtual slap on the back for their success this month!

  1. I'm proud to say that I kept up, albeit barely, in August.

  2. Count me in, Steve! September will be a challenge with school starting up again, but for now I remain victorious.

  3. I barely made it, too - but I did. One haiku written and subbed - although, I think Steve's haiku in yesterday's comments was better than mine. :)

  4. I managed a story, and am currently working on a second short one I intend to finish today. Nine subs. Definitely met my goals!

  5. I made my monthly for August. Several ideas for September and a couple of stories still out.

  6. I did not make it. I got one out of two, and pretty close to two, but alas--- you can't win 'em all!

  7. On the monthly - I wrote 3 stories, and while I haven't submitted them yet, I did resubmit 5 stories that were rejected. :-) I am revising one literally right now that might possibly be ready to go out new tonight. We'll see.

  8. Milo - I have faith in you. The length may get shorter, but since when has length mattered?

Madeline - Good job. I'm glad you liked the haiku. You inspired it. Hope I can return the favor.

Shelley - Nine is very good indeed.

DaveK - That's music to our ears.

M.S. - I'm sorry to hear that. It's encouraging that you're still pushing though. September is a new month I'm told.

dmbonanno - I'm loving this surge in your production. Makin' us proud.

  9. I'm very happy about this month, this has been my most prolific one yet. :)

Wrote four new stories: three flash, one short. Made nine submissions (two were rejected, so they got kicked back out).

  10. Not even close. But I just had to stop in and say, "Funny how this one is August Rains. It's raining at my house right now ... "

I'm waiting for Glimmer Train to post results of a contest I entered. The suspense is killing me!

  12. Congrats all on sticking to it in August (or, if the case be, coming close).

As for myself, I failed completely and utterly in August. I always keep my subs up, it's instinct at this point, but my W1 count for August was a big round 0. Not likely to have anything finished for the end of this week either, but I think the busy spell dies early next week, so hopefully I'll be back on track then. And I actually have a few ideas lined up that are itching to get out at this point. Hopefully :)

Congrats to everyone who's made it - it certainly can be tricky to write not just under time pressure, but also when the mood just doesn't will it.

  14. I made it this month. :) I dropped down from Weekly to Monthly and I wound up writing three new stories and submitting two. Yay!

  15. It was tricky, but, yep, I made it too ...

  16. defcon - and I'm very happy that you're very happy. You did great.

Stephanie - good luck. That's a great place to be published.

shanemgavin - sorry to hear August was a bust. May September renew the flow of words.

Xyzo - Congratulations. That is the essence of the challenge IMHO. Writing when the muse is silent. Writing when it is not. Writing (and Subbing :-))

digitalinkwell - Nicely done. Keep up the momentum.

Simon - Fortunately, you are too prodigious a talent to be stalled by mere trickery. Keep up the great work.

  17. I stuck with the challenge for yet another month. I sent out three new stories in August (one of which I wrote the rough draft in July).

  18. Beth C - There you go. I'll add you to the list.
