Write1Sub1 Month #1 Check In

The end of Write1Sub1 2011 month #1 is upon us! If you're taking part in the "Light Ray" monthly scheme, here's your chance to share with the world how it's gone.

Have you managed to write the story you intended? Have the words flowed or has it been a week from hell? Here's your chance to let everyone know. If you've managed to write a story and submit a story, shout it from the rooftops now. Go you! If you've had something accepted or even published, tell us so we can add you and the market to the Write1Sub1 Hall Of Fame. But if stuff has got in the way of the writing and all your replies have been rejections, let us know that too so we can commiserate! We've all been there.

Successes and failures, triumphs and disasters, brilliant ideas and insane dreams : we want to hear all about them!

  1. Monthly update: 2 stories written, 2 stories subbed. 2 rejections so far for one story, and yet to hear back from the first market for the other story (mainly because i only subbed it yesterday).

    Onto Feb!

  2. Yep, monthly. 1 story written, 1 story subbed. Also 2 rejections and waiting to hear on the third. My second story hasn't been subbed yet. Still in the 'let it sit' and edit stage.

Started the Feb. story. Basic idea and the beginning scene written.

  3. Heh, I've been checking in on the weekly thread. :-) Guess I'm a little too excited about this thing...

Light Ray x2 on par with my 2 stories written and 2 stories submitted.

  4. I've been checking in on the weekly thread, too. Ooops!

I'm so pleased with this first month of W1S1. I've written two new stories and subbed them both, and even though I got a few rejections, I'm happy to be in the groove again.

  5. Well, as of now, I have 3 written (10-15 page stories), 2 subbed. And, as an added bonus, I had a couple of twitfic accepted over at Trapeze, which is a really cool site. I love extremely short fiction. It reminds me of The Story People (http://www.storypeople.com/storypeople/Home.do).

    Very cool.

I know the rejections will happen in the future. But, today feels pretty amazing. I'm loving W1S1.

  6. I'm still hammering away at this month's story and hoping to be done by the end of the day. No short story submissions this month, although I did send out a requested full manuscript and get a subsequent rejection.

Congratulations to everyone who isn't as terribly behind as I am. :)

  7. Well, this month I only got one story written and subbed, but I'm hoping to up the ante this month.

Wrote my first flash fiction, though. Had a lot of fun doing it, and feel I'll be coming back to it again.

  8. I subbed (first ever!) one story just today (and I probably would've put it off for another several months if I hadn't signed up for this challenge), and now I'm writing like a fiend to finish the writing of another. I'm hoping to be more on top of things in February, but today I'm happy just to still be in the game!

  9. Great stuff everyone - it's fantastic that Write1Sub1 is helping, in a small way, to provide an impetus. Onwards to February!

  10. I'm working on the final scene of the story I wanted to complete this month. I made a valiant effort to finish the first draft before midnight last night. I'm also revising an old story that needed to be drastically cut. It also needs a new ending which I have in my head but not on paper. I revised and submitted a story I first wrote in December earlier this month and received a rejection and then an acceptance. I still have two stories out from November submissions. Not a bad month although I'm already behind. Time to charge into February.

  11. Heh, I checked in on the weekly thread too. January wasn't rosy for me. I wrote two very short, very ersatz stories. Nothing submitted, but I did get a rejection today from a story subbed last year. Boldly we go forth to February...

  12. Three stories written, one submitted(no response yet.) So I'm mostly on track for my 'write 4, submit one' goal.

  13. Monthly update: Three stories written, two of them submitted. I've heard back from one editor informing me my sub had moved on to the second review phase, so yay!
